Shannon Vandermolen, Trainer

Shannon grew up in a horse family, starting her education with Morgan horses. She was introduced to eventing at 14, and began running the family barn as a boarding stable to pay for shows at age 16. She continued with eventing, dressage, and Pony Club, clinicing with top trainers in eventing anf jumpers,  until taking a break to finish college with a degree in Human Communication. After college she returned to the horse world as barn manager for Janice Dill, where she developed a deeper appreciation for dressage as a means to strengthen jumpers. When Janice sold the barn she moved on to Lake Oswego Hunt as the Riding Academy Manager for two years, before leaving in 2013 to found Pete's Place, where she focuses on training jumpers, eventers, and pleasure riders with a basis in strong flatwork and athletically correct riding. 2015 has been a banner year being accepted into the Trainer Certification Program and moving into the Grand Prix ranks with her own horse, Pete.

Jake Kroeker, Barn Manager

Jake came to the Pete's Place team in August 2017, bringing with him a background in permaculture. He has a good touch with the horses and helps keep them all comfortable and happy in the barn, and is a great team member to have around!

Interns

We are lucky to have a great crew of interns at Pete's Place. Lead interns Kendra and Casey keep the barn shipshape on the weekends, while our young intern crew support the program in many capacities from evening feedings to hacking horses.
